About Mochi Cafe

Mochi Cafe was founded on August 16, 2009 by head maids Koko and Aura. Mochi Cafe had a lot of thought put into as a major project. We plan to show up at as many convention centers around California, and hopefully other states in the future. Not everyone gets to travel out of the country, let alone to Japan's infamous maid cafes. So we, as well as other groups, plan to bring the culture and unique experience of Japanese maid cafes to the United States.

What's a Maid Cafe?
Well it's simple. Maid cafes (メイドカフェ) are a subcategory of cosplay restaurants found predominantly in Japan. In these cafes, waitresses dressed in maid costumes act as servants, and treat customers as masters (and mistresses) in a private home, rather than as cafe patrons. Unlike "ordinary" cafes, maids serve customers as if they were their masters (or mistresses). For example, staff sometimes kneel on the ground to mix sugar or milk in teas or other drinks.

The purpose of the maid cafes and their service is to make customers feel at home and relaxed. Although exemplary customer service is typical of Japan, maid cafes take special care to pamper their patrons. Even though maid cafes are typically seen as being only for the male population, we love to meet all different kinds of people! Guests of all ages, genders, and cultures are welcome at our cafe!
